Crooked River Canyon Bridge
The bridge where these pictures were taken is located along US97, just
north of Terrebonne, Oregon. It is located in Peter Skene Ogden State
Park, and no longer carries any traffic since it was replaced with a
newer four-lane bridge in 2000. The bridge is now open to bike and
pedestrian traffic, and offers some pretty amazing views of Crooked
River Canyon. Additional photos of the bridge, canyon and surrounding
area can be found below these links.

Peter Skene Ogden State Scenic Viewpoint
A better view of the sign that made it big on the interwebs, on the
south end of the bridge. Needless to say, there were a couple of people
with dogs (mostly on-leash) walking over and around the bridge and
canyon edge.
The new US97 bridge (to the east), and the raliroad bridge (to the
west) which are both visible on Google Earth.
The reasoning behind the silly-sounding signs: A sheer 300ft cliff. As
the signs say, I wouldn't advise jumping over the little walls,
regardless of how inviting that may seem.
There would appear to be the remnants of a car in that pile of junk...
Obviously [insert car name here] wasn't as tough as the factory claimed.
The bridge from the north end, looking south.
The pillars at the south end of the bridge. The pillars at the north
end were identical.
Signs about the
new
bridge, and the guy it's named after--
Rex T.
Barber.
More stuff from around the south end of the bridge.
The State Park Rules--did we mention that bringing your dog here might
not be a good idea?
